Low Fat Smoothies Are Ideal Meal Substitutes If Your Objectives Are to Lose Weight

Low fat smoothies are ideal meal substitutes if your objectives are to lose weight or maintain your figure. Low fat smoothies fill you up, both with water volume and energy so making you less likely to snack on unhealthy foods between meals. Best of all low fat smoothie recipes are a great way to eat fruit and vegetables that you might not otherwise eat.

Many smoothie recipes incorporate bananas and other similar ingredients that thicken naturally for delicious, rich yet healthy smoothies without high fat content. Smoothie recipes are, in my opinion, “the secret weapon” in healthy eating and weight loss. They give you instant and sustained energy and nutrition in the form of carbs, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and fibre.

Low fat smoothie recipes are my favourite type of preventive medicine because more often than not, and with very few exceptions, they are a delicious and convenient way of “forcing yourself” to have a nutritionally balanced diet. Look for smoothie recipes that are designed to either have low-calories or help increase your metabolism which burns fat.

Healthy smoothies are great because they are so convenient. Healthy eating can be hard with a busy lifestyle, but with a smoothie maker or blender you can help improve your diet easily and nutritiously. The more you drink smoothies the more you will start losing your cravings for other unhealthy foods. Healthy smoothies retain the fibre from the fruits and the vegetables you use which makes them more nutritious. Healthy low fat smoothie recipes are loaded with phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals and enzymes that come in a whole-food form which you don’t get if you just drink fruit juice.

For low fat smoothies substitute skimmed milk for semi-skimmed or full fat milk, use low fat yoghurt and use frozen fruit to give your drinks a better texture. Add liquids into your blender first before the fruit, if your smoothie is too thick then try adding a little water to thin to taste. Make sure you wash fruit before using and if possible freeze it the night before making your smoothies. Fresh fruit gives the best taste but also bear in mind that bruised old fruit will not have as many nutrients.

Consider the advantages of having low fat smoothies and fruit juices as part of your weekly diet. Smoothies and fruit juices boost up your immune system, making it healthier and stronger with the high levels of nutrients and enzymes contained in the fruits and vegetables you use; Low fat smoothies give you Instant Nutrition, you absorb the nutrients quickly because they have been “loosened up” by the process.
