How Polarity Therapy Can Assist With Alleviating Sinusitis Symptoms

The painful and uncomfortable symptoms of sinusitis may be alleviated with the use of polarity therapy. Polarity therapy is a non invasive gentle treatment which stimulates the inactive energy in a diseased part of the body. The release of this blocked energy results in the relief of soreness, tenderness or pain.

Polarity therapy can indeed help to alleviate sinusitis symptoms. But what is sinusitis? And what causes it? Sinusitis is an inflammation of the nasal sinuses. The four main sinus areas occur above, on the sides, and behind the nose.

Acute sinusitis is usually a result of a viral or bacterial infection, whereas chronic sinusitis may be caused by allergies such as hay fever, smoking, fungi, irritants or injuries.

Chronic sinusitis can occur a few times a year and may last up to two months or more at a time.

Sinusitis may be accompanied by:

Headache

Earache

Facial Pain

Sore Throat

Fever

Nausea

Bad Breath

Nasal Discharge

Snoring

While it is never a good idea to have a massage whilst an infection or open sore is present, polarity therapy can be beneficial for someone with non-infectious chronic sinusitis.

Polarity therapy is a health practice that encompasses some of the theory base of oriental medicine and ayurveda. Polarity therapy is a compassionate and intentional lying on hands on the body. Some techniques involve rocking motions.

The bodywork principles of polarity blend easily with massage. The intention of touch is the same as that of therapeutic massage. Nothing is ever forced. Because of its simplicity, polarity is one of the gifts to bodywork. The purpose of polarity therapy is to locate blocked energy. When blocked energy is released, body systems and organs function normally and healing can take place naturally. Polarity therapy does not treat illness or disease, it affects the life energy. It stimulates the energy that is inactive in a diseased body part.

The right side of the body represents warmth, heat, sun, yang, positive expanding energy. The left side represents cooling, contracting, moon, yin, negative receptive energy.

Blocked energy usually registers as soreness, tenderness or pain. A simple way to bring energy to an area where it is blocked is to place your left hand on the pain and your right hand opposite to that area on the back, front or side of the body or head. This principle is used in many techniques such the treatment of back pain or sinusitis. It is necessary to have both hands in contact with the body so that energy can move from one hand to the other through the blockage. In practice, a positive contact (e.g. the right hand or fire finger) activates and gives energy, while a negative contact (e.g. the left hand or air finger) is relaxing and receives energy.
